Creating After Your Own Kind

Create yourselfIf you have read the Bible, sat under the teachings of a preacher, or maybe found yourself in the midst of a holy conversation, you have probably heard the events that took place in the Book of Genesis. The events that begin in Genesis Chapter 1 that tells us, “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. It goes on to tell us how God created light, made the firmament in which He called “Heaven, and then how the dry land appeared, in which He called “Earth”.  After He gathered together all the waters and called them Seas, He brought forth the grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed was in itself Genesis 1: 10-11 KJV.

If you continue to read on, you will find that as God continued to create every living creature, He made them after their kind. When He got to man, God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness” Genesis 1:26 KJV, which says to me, that I am created after God’s kind. After God created man, the bible says in Genesis 1:28 KJV that God blessed them, and said to them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” This says to me that because I am in the likeness of God, I have the power of God upon me. That’s encouraging to know! I do not have to walk around feeling defeated and overwhelmed. I can take dominion over every living creature that moves over the earth. I like to think of my emotions as being a living creature. I on purpose take dominion over the different emotions that guide my life daily. I choose to be admirable, compassionate, loving, joyful, and hopeful. Therefore, in most cases, the people around me choose to act the exact same way. I am creating after my own kind!

What kind are you creating? Whether you are a parent, business owner, friend, or spouse, what type of people are you creating around you? As a single mother, I realized that my son reacted to situations in the same manner that I did. If I was happy about something, he was happy; if I despised something, he despised it. Through my actions and reactions, I was indirectly training his mind on how to handle trials and victories in life. He knew that when I faced opposition, it was time to pray, and when I triumphed over a challenge, it was time to praise. I was creating after my own kind. I noticed that this principle works in every area of our lives: at work, in relationships, etc. Are you creating a kind that is loving, fearless, and forgiving; or, are you creating a kind that is angry, fearful, and unforgiving. Through our actions and reactions, we create the environment around us. For that single mother, that raises her children, let them find you happy and loving, rather than bitter and mean because of challenges you may be facing. For that one who has been hurt multiple times, and possibly by the ones you love, create an environment around yourself that is pleasant, peaceful, and welcoming, rather than one that is critical, full of negativity and selfishness. You have the power to create the world around you. What kind are you creating?

  1. Quite insightful. Thank you for sharing.
Due to an almost fatalistic car accident that I suffered when I just turned 18, the accident switched my personality from an extrovert to an introvert. Sometimes to much of an introvert, but I have this calling on my life put there by God at the age of 14. If you would like to see more of my story, go to http://www.TrueLifeChristianity.com.
