Sometimes it can become a cliché’ to quote Jeremiah 29:11 over our lives. Many are quick to say, “I know God has a plan for my life”, or “I know I am here for reason, or how about this one “I know God is going to use me”. And while all these may be true, ask yourself, “What am I doing to contribute to the cause.? Yes, we serve a powerful God and He can do anything, but it is up to us to yield ourselves so that He can work through our lives. He needs our participation to fulfill those plans He has for us, in order to use us for His glory, and reveal the reason why we are here on this earth.
I experienced a season in my own life when I had no clue as to why I was on the earth. I remember feeling unproductive, empty, and without purpose. I was working dead-end jobs, in and out of toxic relationships, and going through the motions at church. I had no true foundation in anything. I was not living on purpose. What does that mean, you might ask? Living on Purpose? That means that you are in-tuned with God through an intimate relationship with Him, and He is helping you navigate this life on a daily basis. Yes, Jeremiah 29:11 is true; God does have a plan for your life and He wants to prosper you. However, many times we stop at that verse. But, if we continue on to the next verse God says, “You will turn to me and ask for help, and I will answer your prayers. What that says to me is that our prayers must be on point and that we need to be asking God for his guidance. I am a true witness that the plan God speaks about is not likely to happen if we are making our own choices, which many times, are not lined up with God’s word.
To live on purpose means to follow the guidance of the One who gave you purpose. God provides us with guidance through His Holy Spirit. According to John 16:13, the Holy Spirit leads us in Spirit and in Truth. It is time for us to yield ourselves and surrender to the Holy Spirit. It is time for us to follow His lead that we may fulfill the purpose and plan God has for us. After a long time living the life I wanted to live, I am finally thriving towards my purpose. I made up in my mind that my way was not working. I finally realized that God’s way is the best way. I encourage you to surrender your life to God, allow Him to lead you through His Holy Spirit, and live the life that He planned for you before the foundation of the world. Contribute to the cause and live on purpose! This is just a little nugget for your soul!
